My alarm went off but I hit the snooze and awhile later I woke up and thought, it's been more than 5 minuets? Yep, it had been half an hour, apparently I missed the snooze but I made it in time anyway! You know how tight of a schedule Ecuador runs on...haha ...
It was a nice relaxing Saturday, I had no plans so I spent my morning with the babies...I fed a hundred bottles before lunch I think! But we had music class with all of them, unusually we just have it with the older toddlers. It was great to see the music teacher again, it seems like so long since I have talked with her! She is such an amazing and sweet person!
A tia asked me if I had any plans for today or tomorrow, I told her no. So she said she would call me later...so I had strict orders to be by the phone at 1 p.m. I had a lot of Spanish lessons today, it was really good! I talked with one tia for such a long time, its just amazes me! Its not easy to talk to me, they have to change words and rephrase things and motion and all but they are so patient and helpful! I can't believe how much I can understand! If I had a couple more months I would have this!
The large group of volunteers came and hosted a Easter party for the older children, so I stayed behind in the baby house... after we had all the babies in bed, and lunch cleaned up I started getting ready to leave but the tias asked me to stay and have some corn on the cob, well once I sat down, they kept bringing all this food! So I had corn on the cob, cheese, aji, fried bread with banana on the inside, and some other fried bananas. It was so delicious and so thoughtful of them! I think they are all worried about me....
So I headed home for just a bit then went back to make it in time for my phone call...but I had missed it.....so the guard came and told me the message...I was suppose to meet the tia in 15 minuets...then I went in the baby house and the tias gave me the message and asked where I was going to be...I told them I just had to run down to the other house, then back home but I would be back! So after all my running I ran back into the baby house and they asked if the guard knew where I was?? I said, yes! and at 15 after I went to wait by the gate and the guard let me out then told me stand right there...it just amazed me up how much they all cared and wanted to make sure I got off ok!
So I went with the tia and her husband that we have spent time with before, it was such a blessing to spend time with them again! Her husband knows quite a bit of English, and his wife and I both had our dictionary's with so we were prepared! She was showing off my Spanish skills to her husband! But we were able to do a lot of talking and visiting...its amazing how much my Spanish had improved!
So they took me out for dinner, and for a milkshake, then we stopped at a store to buy jeans for her son, but I think it was an excuse to get me in the store because she picked out a shirt for me, and insisted I try it on...but I told her not to get it because it was way to much money! But her and her husband insisted! They wanted to do it, and they want it to be something for me to remember them by. It was so humbling, its easy to give, but its harder to humbly accept. They are such a sweet couple! Definitely a gift from God for today!
So as I considered the cross of Christ and what difference it has made in my life, its amazing to realize how my life revolves around it! If it were not for Christ I wouldn't be here, if it were not for the cross, I wouldn't know this couple, they wouldn't be sharing in my life and blessing me! First of all the cross has brought me salvation but all these other things are outpouring of the cross....the cross has changed the world, and my life. I am so thankful for the cross and my Saviour!
Today I was overwhelmed by the blessing bestowed upon me by my Saviour, I don't deserve a relationship with Him, or eternal life and He has freely given to me! He has forgiven me and cleansed me from all unrighteousness, even though I daily fail and fall, He forgives me over and over again. Then He bestows all of these blessing on me, that I don't begin to deserve! !Gracias Senior Jesus por la Cruz!
For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. 1 Corinthians 1:17
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1 :18
