A Saturday filled with the goodness of God

Today was Natasha's day, she did some research and picked what we would do and she did amazing! I think today may have been one of the best Saturday's we have spent together! As we get to know the city, the bus system, and the culture, everything just gets better! Maybe its because we relax and enjoy ourselves more, but it was great to remember our first time on the trole today, as we were riding the same one, we are getting quite seasoned! We seen Gods goodness today, even when we did not have to wait for one bus and we road on several today, anyone from here would know that is a miracle!

So after breakfast with the sweet little ones we headed out with a large group that was going to Otavalo, so they dropped us off where we were headed and they continued on! So we hopped off the bus and jumped into the bed of a taxi truck that took us to the Zoo. It is one of the largest in South America, Quito Zoo en Guallabamba. We are sitting on the bench in the truck, flying down the road, and this group of Ecuadorians were walking, so they wave at us and we smile and wave back, then this other group seen us wave at them so they quick wave at us too, so we smile and wave at them too!
At the zoo....

Squirrel monkeys, they really did look and sound like squirrels too!

Turtles from the Galapagoes Islands.

Everybody up!!

It was amazing watching them walk!

This "little" fella jumped the fence.
But I didn't mind a bit! I was able to touch him!

This is where he escaped from...

They were so huge!!

The ant eater....It was so much bigger than I would have imagined, and made a very odd noise!

The "green bean" tree.

We seen lots of flowers and plants, it was all so beautiful!

The cactus trees were so tall!

The "pea" tree, it was so unique!

The condor, it was so huge!! He was ruffling his feathers when we first seen him, his wing span is huge!

The eagles

The wild pigs!

Making friend with the tiger! She decided to be my personal body guard!
She was giving me lessons....

I guess he found the enemy! :)

The frogs....

We looked all over for the frogs and finally found them in the leaves!

Turtle eggs

These flowers were amazing!!

The white tails!!

This little guy was soo cute and very friendly, we went at a good time because all the animals were on the prowl!

The felines were gorgeous!

the Puma tiger, she was really hard to get a picture of!

The African Lion

The monkeys!!

A boa constrictors skin, it was huge!

touching it!!

We met a few domestic animals....

The lama's...

 The flowers are just beautiful!!

Mr. Raccoon was sleeping!

We were able to walk right into the cage and see the owls, it was so neat!!

The porcupines, they were a little different.

Mrs. Roo from Australia

We were able to walk right inside this bird cage too! It was so cool, the birds were flying around. They were so colorful!!

Notice the banana's above my head....

While we were at the zoo a little girl asked if she could have her picture taken with us! Then we went and bought ice cream after the zoo and the lady gave us each a rose, so on the bus ride home some children who were quite fascinated with "gringas" enjoyed talking to us, earned the roses. They were so excited!

So then after another bus ride, we both fell asleep this time so it wasn't to bad! We went to the market to get a few last things we wanted. It was so much fun just browsing and walking among the isles of the places we have come to love, it was so sad to think of leaving these people, and this way of life! But I know God has a time for everything and I'm so thankful for the time I have had here, the lessons I have learned and the memories and blessings I have received that I will never be able to forget! After the market, we needed to find a bathroom but public bathrooms are not common around here......so we tried a couple places then ended us in a random mall. It was a huge spiral......
It seemed ok, but when we asked for the bathroom and got sent down a back stairway I started to get a little nervous....
But we found the bathroom! So we walked in and there was two ladies and a little girl running this little counter selling all sorts of things including toilet paper.....They had chairs and bags, and possessions there. They were burning incense! It was all a little nerve racking but we did it and thank goodness we didn't have to pay for soap! I can't imagine working a little stand in a bathroom to make a living. Yet here they are working to provide and care for themselves!

Here is little boys shining shoes...

It was just neat to walk among the streets, seeing the sights and learning how these precious people live. For they to are made in the image of God!

This is a church Natasha has been eyeing up for awhile so we walking by so she could see it!

When we got home we got all packed up and ready to head out to Latacunga tomorrow! It will be a long busy week with lots of bus rides so please keep us in prayer!

We ending our evening by roasting marshmallows over the gas stove, but they were not very good. They had a really weird flavor that just was not going to work! But we tried......

A very exciting part of my afternoon we receiving two letters in the mail! They were so encouraging and thoughtful!

As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country. Proverbs 25:25

So thank you to everyone who have been so thoughtful to send messages and notes of encouragement  Thank you to all of you who have been so faithfully praying, so many times during the day I see Gods goodness and mercy toward me as he provides so extravagantly in even the little things! I have received so much more here than I have been able to give. It is very humbling, and I am so grateful! Many times I have been encouraged by notes from "far". It has not been an easy journey here but it has been well worth it all! Praise the Lord, for He has done wonderful things!
