Day 2 in Quito

Well today started out bright and early for me, it was good to get up early feeling rested and ready to go! So at 7 am. we headed to the baby house (with camera in hand) to help with breakfast, so we fed a few toddlers....

This is Mr. Chill, he sits and stares, no matter what happens, even if someone is plowing him over.

This little guy has a smile that could light up the stars!

This little guy is beyond words! He cracks me up constantly, he never stops going!

Then we moved right on to playing.....

Now Mary, I don't ever want to hear you complain about your hair when you wake up in the morning!

Everybody gathering around the toy box, there is a little rivalry in this room over the toy box!

This is the where most of the one year old's sleep.

So after they were all wore out, and chilling I headed to the baby and helped dress and feed them! I did pretty good at understanding my instructions! They put so many clothes on them, I guess its a cultural thing,  she handed me a whole pile of clothes for one baby, the hardest part was figuring out in what order to put them on! I put the socks over the tights and that was wrong, the tights go over the sock! got it!

These little guys havn't had their baths yet so....there hair was pretty on end!

This little princess is simply adorable!

This little gal is all wore out and the day has hardly begun!

I have never seen so many perfectly content baby's!

bebe chico

This is the infant room.

This little guy is just so sweet!

They put on little suits under their clothes, I'm running around in flip flops! Alright I know I'm from Wisconsin, but I'm usually one of the coldest! Here I am like the only one wearing a t-shirt!

This little guy is wearing a little patch over his eye, to strengthen the other eye.

Today they had a special spa day for the tias, it was a lot of fun! They had so many volunteers and they did such a wonderful job! They did manicures, pedicures, face scrubs and messages. The tias were very pampered and thoroughly enjoyed themselves!

I met some of the older children 3-5 today, I have never felt so accepted and loved in my life! I walked into their home a little girl came running up to me grabbed my hands and twirled me around as she admired my skirt, then she admired my rings and started showing me things. It was so amazing, and I knew right away......I lost my heart to them too.

In the afternoon, we helped out with the music lesson....it was so much fun!!
We danced around and sang (as much as we could follow along) and played instruments.

Our amazing teacher, Jilly, she was so much fun and the children loved it!

Our little group

One of my roommates, Kaleigh

After all the work was done, Natasha and I spent time with the infants before heading for the guest house.

So we decided to end our evening by ordering pizza, instead of cooking from our meager options.......well it was quite interesting, it took about 45 minuets to get it ordered and Natasha our designated spokes person (because she speaks wonderful Spanish :) had to go get a tia involved to order for us and give directions, so we hope that a pizza is on its way......because we are getting hungry!
20 minuets later the Pizza Hut delivered (on a motorcycle), and I believe it was by far the best pizza any of us have ever tasted!

  4. Brianna,
Thank you for taking time to go spend with the special children in Ecuador. I cry everytime I think of the children we left behind. Everyone should adopt a child from For His Children in Ecuador.
